Information we collect
Suggestions and reports may include a place name, area and issue details. Anonymous lunch ratings include five numeric scores. We do not ask for contact details or written reviews. We also receive anonymised website-usage information, technical security information and information generated when you interact with Google Maps.
How and why we use it
We use information to operate the website, moderate ratings and submissions, calculate approved rating averages, correct and improve listings, maintain security, understand website performance, meet legal obligations and protect our legitimate interests in running a useful lunch-discovery service.
Submissions and ratings
Suggestions, reports, ratings and optional lunch photos are reviewed before publication or use. Submitted photos are stored privately for moderation and do not appear publicly automatically. Individual contributors are not identified on the website.
Service providers and sharing
Limited information may be processed by Vercel for hosting and privacy-friendly Web Analytics, Supabase for secure storage, Google Maps for locations and directions, and Resend when internal submission notifications are enabled. We may also share information with advisers, regulators or law-enforcement bodies where necessary or required by law.
Google Maps
Google Maps displays restaurant locations only after you accept its cookies and similar technologies. Al Desko does not request or track your real-time location. Google may process technical information under the Google Maps terms and Google Privacy Policy.
International transfers
Some providers may process information outside the UK. Appropriate safeguards will be used where UK data-protection law requires them. The final transfer details remain to be completed.
Retention
Security rate-limit records are removed after two days. Rating identifiers are anonymised after 30 days. Archived test records are removed after 30 days; rejected, spam, duplicate, resolved and converted submissions after 90 days; and inactive pending submissions after 12 months. Read notifications and resolved system warnings are removed after 90 days. Administrative audit records are retained for up to 24 months. Approved numeric ratings may be kept after their identifier is anonymised because they are needed to calculate restaurant scores. These periods are reviewed regularly and information may be erased sooner when no longer needed.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to withdraw consent where applicable. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies and similar technologies
Strictly necessary technologies may be used for security, anonymous rating integrity and service operation. Al Desko does not currently use advertising cookies. Vercel Web Analytics provides anonymised usage statistics without advertising profiles. Google Maps may use cookies or similar storage and is not loaded until you accept it. Non-essential cookies requiring consent will not be used without that consent.
Your cookie choices
Use Cookie settings in the website footer to accept or decline Google Maps at any time. You can also control or delete storage through your browser settings. Declining Google Maps leaves the searchable restaurant list available. This policy will be updated if new analytics, advertising, login or personalisation technologies are introduced.
Children
The website is not designed or directed specifically at children under 13.
